The Rise of Pickleball: A Sport for Everyone!

Pickleball has had a meteoric rise in popularity over the past few years but did you know that it has been around as far back as 1965?! This game combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong and is truly an all ages sport.

But the question is – why is pickleball so popular? We’ve done a little research and here’s what we’ve come up with:

Pickle Ball is for Everyone!

Pickleball is known for its inclusive nature, welcoming players of all ages, skill levels, and physical abilities. The sport can be enjoyed as a beginner and as an experienced athlete, making it accessible to so many people young and old. This inclusivity fosters a sense of camaraderie and encourages social interaction among players.

Pickle Ball is super easy to learn:

The rules are relatively simple making it easy for new players to grasp the basics and start playing quickly. These simplified rules help to reduce the learning curve, allowing players to focus more on socializing and enjoying the game together rather than spending too much time on the technical aspects.

Double Trouble:

Pickleball is usually played in doubles format, with two players on each side of the court. This team-based setup promotes social interaction, as players need to communicate, strategize, and work together effectively. It creates opportunities for conversation, shared experiences, and building relationships on the court. It also makes it so easy to play with your friends!

Versatility and Accessibility:

Pickleball is a highly accessible sport (we have a court right here on Shubie Campground!). The pickleball court is smaller than a tennis court, and the game is played with a lightweight paddle and a plastic ball with holes. This combination allows for shorter rallies and requires players to stand in closer proximity to each other. The game can be played both indoors and outdoors which provides year-long Pickleball fun regardless of the weather!

Pickleball Builds Community:

Pickleball has developed a strong community aspect, with many local clubs, groups, and recreational centers organizing regular play sessions, leagues, and tournaments. These gatherings provide opportunities for players to connect, meet new people, and form friendships within the pickleball community. The social aspect extends beyond the court, with many players organizing social events and activities related to the sport.

Finally…It’s FUN!!:

Pickleball is a fast-paced and energetic sport that often leads to laughter and enjoyment. The combination of skill, strategy, and the element of friendly competition makes it a fun and engaging activity.

At Shubie Campground, we have our very own Pickleball Court! Enjoy a fun and active game with friends and then cool off with a swim in Lake Charles – all just minutes away from your campsite.

Whether you are a beginner or seasoned player, Pickleball provides an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the game. So, book your camping trip, grab a racket and join the pickleball craze at Shubie Campground!
